

To better communicate with small businesses, First Union and its agency worked with HITS to develop a WebDecoder® program aimed at 150,000 small businesses to better communicate the broad product line the bank offered. The resulting Instant-Win program targeted 100,000 businesses through direct mail and another 50,000 through handouts carried on displays within the bank branches. The bank had set an ambitious goal of a 15% response rate from the direct mail component and slightly less from the handouts.
The result? The WebDecoder® program closed out with a response rate of 42% from the direct mail program and 28% from the handouts on the displays.
